The Serpent And The Rainbow.

by Baby Rainbow   Nov 26, 2012

Slithering along through the over grown grass
which has become his jungle home.
Every creature who hears him coming
stay clear from his path and they run.
He spends his day roaming through flowers
who hide their petals in fear of his intent.
Even the blades of grass begin to snap
as his body touches against the tips.
The trees stand tall and strong until
they feel his scaly body climbing high.
Then their branches begin to quiver
and drop to the ground to evade.
Even the almighty king knows his
deep roar will not beat this serpent
and so he tucks his whipping tail
between his legs and fleets his den.

What a lonely life it is for him
to be feared by his surroundings.
His eyes reach out for connection
to find someone else's soul.
He means no harm and will cause no pain
if no threat is aimed at him.
But no one takes the risk of looking
through his eyes and into his heart.
Slithering along through the over grown grass
which has become his jungle home.
He dreams of growing wings to fly
so he can slide along the rainbow
and show the world the true colours
that live beneath his misjudged skin.
