Rhyme Scheme Police

"You seem to have lost the rhyme,"
I hear it all the time.
As if control of rhyme sporadic
is somehow democratic.

Just because there is no pattern,
please, think me not a slattern.
I'm only using different tools
to chronicle the Gods and fools.

I tend to be sarcastic
when the rhyming schemes bombastic.
A lovely turn of phrase
becomes lost in formats haze.

It isn't form and meter
that makes a work seem sweeter.
It's the images found in the words,
creating pictures to be heard.

So if you must have "sounds the same,"
you should probably read another name.
I'll leave you with this single thought,
quality is not just through rhyming wrought.
