Shadows On The Moon

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 16, 2012

Covering the lush green grass
with the cotton blanket
which moulds itself into place.
I lie down peacefully
and gaze up to the velvet
canvas of sprinkled diamonds above me.
A shooting star flies across
the thousand miles
between Jupiter and the moon.
Black silhouettes appear
dancing on the glow
of the midnight moon.
Their joyful laughter
and innocent hearts
mesmerises the world tonight.
Gone but not forgotten,
these little angels
shine down on you forever.
Because children took from life
too soon, remain in spirit
through the shadows on the moon.

Saffie, this was beautiful yet heart wrenching...
the recent events are tragic and even more so at the young age of those little souls.

This was precious, this is just beautiful.

:( Tragic when children die too soon, especially by something as horrific as what happened....I can not comment on the situation if you are writing about the Newton CT shooting, I burst into tears every time its talked about, however, this poem, absolutely wonderful....You dressed your words very beautifully!! Velvet, and diamonds, the scene was just beautiful as it should be since its a poem dedicated to precious little ones...

You keep growing and growing Saff, I love it! :)
