The End of the World

by Dakota   Dec 17, 2012

The end of the world is near,
in a year it will be here.
I certainly hope it is not true,
for there are many things I mean to do.

The end of the world is near,
in a month it will be here.
Before then, I will fly to a distant place
and try something new, I must make haste.

The end of the world is near,
in a week it will be here.
Should I run? Should I hide?
But why even bother to decide?

The end of the world is near,
in a day it will be here.
I have sold my house, I have sold my car
because neither possession will get me far.

The end of the world is near,
in an hour it will be here.
I brace myself to say goodbye
I regret all I did and did not try.

The end of the world has past,
the Earth still spins, there was no blast.
I have no money, not a dime,
but I am grateful I still have time.
