This was absolutely wonderfully well done. I loved reading it and can so understand it. I loved how deeply the emotions ran through the whole thing. Great job 5/5

Excellent poem acknowledging and expressing leaving behind a destructive relationship and moving on. LOVE this line: "Broken as I may be, I will rise." Also really like the line: "I know we're all just pieces in
    one twisted game."

Although this is heartbreaking, it's absolutely beautiful! You've expressed yourself so well. I love the imagery you've conveyed and your use of chess as an example.. how so very true it is..

    I gave my heart
    to a monster,
expecting him to change his nature
    for my ignorance.

^^ I loved the way you started this write as it completely consumed me and left me wanting more. The feelings these 4 lines conveyed, as if you knew he mistreated people in the past, but hoped possibly you could be the one he would cherish.. Ah I've been there.

Then you go on expressing these feelings of hopelessness so vividly I could feel them myself. So heartbreaking!

Nik, this is a gr8 poem. I especially liked when u compared the struggle with "the monster" to a chess game. Brilliant!! I could almost feel the emotions as I read it. It only stinks that u had to experience such hurt. Truly feel for u. But excellent work
