Very heartbreaking to have to say goodbye to your one and only. I can't fathom the pain. :(

Nice poem, I like the use of sleeping beauty.

    OMG Tony,
This was heartbreaking, I'm with a friend and he crying too, a grown man in tears over this piece because it is totally heart wrenching, amazing emotion, sadness, the whole imagery was simple yet just really got to us both.

I hope this isn't based on a true story, that would just be the worst thing I can imagine, WOW

This is a nomination worthy piece so I do hope it wins, you are totally awesome man

Sleeping beauty, one of my favorite Disney movie. So it grabbed my attention.

The poem was sad, the tone of it kept constant, though, it was not sufficient to make me cry. However, I believe that was not the aim of this poem, rather to create an image with a short story.

There is one part tht confused me( puzzled me) that's the part about ... To remind me of beauty I once held.. Which makes me think that the one narrating this piece is the sleeping beauty herself and not the prince. Why? Because the one with the beauty is sleeping beauty... Who now is saying good bye to the beauty she held. On the other hand, if it was written as... To remind me of a beauty I once held. The a beauty.. Will be in referenced to the girl per se.

However, the next stanza... Makes me feel like it is the prince saying goodbye to sleeping beauty(her).

I hope what I just typed makes sense...

Wow!! I love this! It was so captivating and intriguing! It's so sad... heartbreaking, yet romantic... the way this man is saying his last goodbye. It really touched my heart!

    Just a few suggestions:

In to --> I think into is the proper word here.

whisper , --> I think it would look better if the comma was right after the word like whisper,

Just my opinion... you don't have to make any changes.

I really love this poem.. <3

For being so short this poem is so amazing. It says a lot, it has so much emotion wrapped up and so many stories it could be from. Its a heartrending piece but it is stunning.

    Amazing job.

Wow, this is so short but so powerful. I think it deserves a nomination. The flow of it it actually flawless, you can read it again and again and it reads so smoothly.

It is a sad scene, one of having to say goodbye. But I also thought it was beautiful how he compared her to the beauty of a rose and how he knew he would not have that beauty to hold again. So sad, but really well written T. Good job. xx

I can't beging to express the elegance within this write Tony... its beautiful beyond words...

My reasons for not commenting until now, to be honest.. is because it made me think of placing flowers upon my daughters, fathers grave... He was my Ex.. but he was always my friend and the father of my daughters.. and it was a heart breaking time for me... a turbulent time for me.. so when I read this I broke down in tears... but I promised you a comment, so I will just tell you how much you touched me and as to why it took me a bit to comment... love this... hugs you!

Awesome emotion broken down and expressed in a touching poem, the images are very strong and the emotion is very strong.
Simplistic but needs to be, too many extra words would ruin it.

    great write.

Nice title that really fits well with the theme. Sometimes goodbyes are really for forever, while pain remains, continues and lasts. Emotional poem with emotional words! Keep it up. :)

The contrast between love and loss is very evident even though you have very little lines in this poem. Very well done. Keep going, you're very talented.

A short poem that not so much as kicks you in the face, it takes a huge 'run up' first.
I cannot believe that this young man has managed to cram a huge heart stopping emotional rollercoaster into only 8 lines, I have read this many times. Taking a look at each couplet we are taken by the hand and led to real sorrow, We begin with the scene set, a backdrop of a cold night emphasising sadness, Then we move onto classic imagery of love, a single rose, yet this rose is not a happy image, it is a reminder of what once was. Then the sadness cranks up 10 fold. 'eternal bed' shedding only a single tear, how much this single tear must hurt. Then the end, 'one last time'
It asks real questions, Why? Why one last time? Is he going to take his own life, is he moving on?
A great little poem that is thought provoking as it is tearful. Well done.

Tony, although this was a short piece, its powerful, it brings tears to my eyes while reading because I think so many of us can relate to losing someone we love. Its also so descriptive, that you can picture it in your mind. Comparing the beauty of the rose to the lost love I think is perfect because not only is a rose beautiful and fragile, but its also the flower of love and we give it when one passes as life is fragile. The last stanza really did me in, the single tear and the whisper of "goodnight my sleeping beauty", yeah that had the tears flowing real good. When a poet can touch a readers heart like this, to me, its a great work of art. And though this piece is sad its also breathtaking. Beautifully written Tony (7)
