My Son

by Thomas   Dec 23, 2012

Darling,
I want you to meet
this secret I kept from you.
Say hello to my son.
The little creature
running rampant in my house.
He's clumsy
due to inexperience.
But I'm convinced
you can teach him.
Learn him to hold,
to kiss, to sleep, to love.
Cause I tried and failed
in teaching him myself.
I guess I was waiting
for someone like you.
A person truly special
and worthy to meet my son.

====================

To clarify: I have not become a father (I pray to God it will not happen in the next 5 years). The son I speak of are my emotions or the small child that lives inside me.

Well, for a second there I thought you were a father. :)

Without reading the note, I thought this was about a man who has lost his wife, whether naturally - death, or perhaps, through divorce. And it shows how he loves his son dearly.
The person spoken to might be a new lover and he has finally found someone who did care for his son, assuming his past wife was someone who didn't.

After reading the note, though, I found this write much deeper than I thought. It seems like you've built a barrier, metaphorically speaking, around yourself. Perhaps it was something due way back when you were a child or something that grew overtime.
I'm sure there will come a time when each of us would find that "someone."

    Beautiful piece.
