Birth By Ash

by The Flame Within   Jan 11, 2013

My weakness catches fire, this blaze becomes my tomb
and though the heat rises, the fire does not consume
I enjoy this burn, despite the danger I do not feel my doom
Instead this uncontrollable inferno becomes a womb

the red and orange tongues dance freely upon my skin
as steam and smoke rise, like the freedom of my sin
and though the heat is high, the fire cannot win
how dare it try to burn me, I am The Flame Within

My body begins to wither, my skin turns black as coal
my laughter roars yet still, as my life remains whole
despite being caught in this the consequences take no toll
this is but a meal to me, it simply feeds my soul

I rise up, my body made new, strength like never before
the ash falls around me as i plant my feet firmly on the floor
I feel the fire behind my eyes, The Flame Within rises in my core
Whatever weakness i had in me is now no more

Let no one stand in my way, for their own sake
I will simply trample them, and leave embers in my wake
I will not stumble when challenged, nor fall nor shake
tomorrow is mine for the taking, these choices are mine to make

The flame in my soul starts to burn higher
I can conquer all and never tire
Try not to cross my trip wire
Because I am a new beast birthed by fire
