Hate Being Right

by Megan   Jan 15, 2013

Sometimes the way you hurt me still sneaks up and consumes my thoughts,
And all my fears come creeping up.

Out of the blue, I had been blind.
You thought that you might change your mind
But I
Never saw it coming.

Is there another girl is all I thought.
Another girl, you'd brush it off.
Then a few weeks later I learned that I was right.

Oh it's not fun to be right sometimes.
The truth always hurts more than lies.
I forgive a tad too fast,
But memories they always last,
And I will never forget that it could have been her.

Yelling, screaming, tears are falling,
Standing there, our friends are calling.
I saw the way you talked, I see you care.
Be friends with who you want, but she
Will always be a threat to me,
And she likes you;
My intuition wasn't wrong.

You're close and you talk and you've got things in common,
And I am afraid I'm slipping away.

You say you love me, I know you do.
You say the one I want is you,
But she haunts me.
This won't ever be easy again.

You've got me wrapped around your finger
On a string so I'll always linger.
I love too much too fully;
I trust that you won't fool me.
