Ray Gun!

by Andrew Packard   Jan 20, 2013

If I had a Ray Gun,
I wouldn't set it for stun.

Ray Gun,
Riots would run.

Faces melting everyone,
Deadly Ray Gun ...

Why won't the government give us one?
Fear of Wild Wild West Ghost Town Destruction?

And did I mention,
They've promised us Jet Packs,
Since The Carter Administration!

Think about what we could do,
with the combination of the two.

Flying in from all direction,
Calling the Ray Gun Jet Pack Obama Militia,
to defend the Nation.

Just dial the adjustment for Laser precision.
Think of it.

All those Ray Guns,
And Jet Packs.
Will be our defense,
.... when Mars Attacks!

Author notes
This is a perfect example of how my poems take on a life of their own as they come out by themselves. I started out, I wanted to write a serious poem about a ray gun, one that could maybe even be put into a heavy metal song. But as I was writing it, it just took on a silly comical tone! So be it, I Like it! Friday October 19th 2012.
