Invisible Target

by Baby Rainbow   Jan 24, 2013

Standing in the background
merging quietly into shadows
but your eyes become
as wide as the world.

Witnessing the angry voices
which once upon a time
were the nurturing voices
that taught you love.

Watching the spark of light
fade into a distant memory
which will soon become the past.

Negativity and degradation
goes bouncing off the walls
as you become the invisible target.

Vows and promises
breaking down like an antique vehicle
that can no longer travel
along the dusty road.

When hate becomes stronger
than the love that used to be,
the time has come
where you must go your separate ways.

But stuck in routine
you remain in conflict
battling in front of the shadows.

Unaware of the damage caused
to the invisible eyes
that have been watching
from the background.

    Wow...
Now you, this is like poetry at the forefront of eye opening situations...so often couples fight and argue and they let it control their relationship but they forget that children see everything and don't always understand what they see and hear. To a young child, angry voices mean fear and whatever is said doesn't resonate...it's the tone.

I know love is a crazy thing. It doesn't always last and arguments and break ups happen but from a child's perspective, its confusing.

You really captured that well here..you crafted something that I feel really should have been highlighted.

Thank you for bringing my attention to this piece. Awesome poetry,

Strong poem which I think I got the jist of pretty quickly. It's an amazing piece of poetry and I really enjoyed your subdued sense of beauty in the words you chose. A very nice read :)
