800 Miles From Home

by Jason Rainey   Jan 25, 2013

Lost in Oklahoma
Traveling to feed my family
A great depression in more terms than one
I wish there was another way

All alone
No physical friend to be had
Starving for attention
I reach out with words
Words that heal somewhat
But not enough

Growing my inner strength
Proportions in sums unmatched
One more year
Just phone calls to soothe
Awaiting the ability to sustain
Awaiting so long

So sad Jason, its so hard to be so far away from your loved ones, but we do what must be done to survive... I know they miss you too and you'll all be together again soon. This is a very touching piece.

I see a modern western, where a loner is longing to be back home but has to take care of business first, very vivid imagery. Great job, Jason!

This piece is amazing and it´s right up there with "Jackals & Chains". Fantastic imagery and I got vibes from old school American writers. (Keurac, for the life of me I can´t spell that name right) and some Cormac McCarthy vibes in there aswell. A clear 5!
