What Is Wrong With Love?

by Natasha   Feb 8, 2013

Women arrive in the name of love.
Mothers leave because of love.

His face--flooded in toxic orange,
Like a sunset drowning in smog.
His heart sleeps beneath stone.
Walled in. Cold.

What is wrong with him?

He lets his heart be used and bruised.
And for once--
I saw the work of heaven
In the eyes of someone vanishing.

What is wrong with love?

But I'll return.
When the moon is whole.
To question what he calls love.

Not for him.
Not for anyone.

But for me.

Because I want you.
That is all.

Author's Note:

This piece came from a place where confusion and longing collided.
It's about watching someone shut their heart away--so tightly, it hurts to look.
It's not just a question about love.. It's a confrontation.
Not with him. Not with love.
But with the parts of myself that still want something real--
Even when it makes no sense. Even when it hurts.
Sometimes love feels like a riddle you're not meant to solve.
But you ask anyway. Because wanting still counts.

A mixture of love and darkness. I loved the way you made the questions in separate lines as subtitles. The last stanza is so deep and full of confidence. Great attempt.

Soft-driven, well worded, and heartfelt. Ended on a strong beat. I like it a lot.
