Witness No.1

by Jaun Grobler   Mar 2, 2013

[You need to read the poem explanation at the bottom in case you do not get the twist]

----------------------------------------------------

Let the tears roll, as you lie there in pieces
Your voice hoarse from the fighting night after night
The cold floor reminds you of the emptiness you feel
You can barely stand as he starts yet another fight

Let the bruises ache, as you hit the floor again
Your bruises growing into each other like black ink
His shadow towers above you as his fists tighten
Long gone is the talking, as your cowering hands sink

Your eyes can only see red, your lungs can only gasp
Is this what he always wanted? As he hits again and again
Fading back & forth you can see a warm but bright light
With one last hit, the light is gone, you have reach the end

The police came the next morning, only you were there
Lying on the floor, cold as ice and eyes wide open
They say that your baby survived, but you did not
You made the news, the entire town filled with emotion

Now a few days go by, no one speaks about it anymore
I see him entering the house where he laid you to rest
He came to fetch some of his things before leaving again
He jumped in fright to find blood seeping through his vest

Grasping tightly his waist as I emptied my gun into his flesh
He was surprised to see his face, face to face, man to man
He begged for mercy, just like she begged me for mercy
I fell to the floor, Happy, knowing that I had lost all that I had

---------------------------------------------------------------------

[Explanation - This is a poem about a man with MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder), who killed his wive, however though that he was witnessing the murder, he then proceeded to kill the murderer, which he realized in the end was himself]

At first I thought it was a woman being abused by her husband. At least I was partial right lol. Nice twist.
