You

by Heartstring   Mar 5, 2013

I was coasting through life,
Happy as can be,
When I hit from the side,
I was blinded as a person can be.

Never did I thought,
I might feel again,
So soon, so through,
That I wondered if I was sane.

But there I was,
Smiling like a fool,
Waiting for a call, a text, that defied my laws,
But no I said, and told myself to act the fool.

For there was no way, no how that I could possibly fall,
Least of all for a boy once was my friend,
An ancient, a decade, a time not so small,
Alas here I am confused as I thought that I was on the ball.

Yet you won me,
Bit by slow bit,
First you won my smile,
Then you won my laughter,
Bit by slow bit,
You are continually worming your way into my heart.

With your words,
By your actions,
With your heart,
Though your care,
and finally with your love.

I'm sad that I can't wholeheartedly, surely and completely,
Give you the words you wish to hear,
I'm ashamed to say there is still a part of my heart that is wounded,
Scarred, and scabbed.

But, its mending,
Its healing and trusting,
So please bear with me,
For I am slowly and surely getting there.

Thank you for your love,
Your patience,
Your care,
Your touch,
For trusting me enough with your heart,
For your love to me simply is.

So...
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
My baby.
