Absent Father

by Temptation   Jul 1, 2004

Daddy, where were you when I was small?
You were never there to save me from a fall
Daddy, why were you always to busy for me?
You always had someone else to see
Daddy, where did you go?
You missed seeing me grow
Daddy, why did you make mummy cry?
You have to tell me why
Daddy, do you know who I am?
You never really gave a damn
Daddy, will you do better for your new little one?
You always wanted a son
Daddy, do you deserve that name?
You don’t know that I’m not the same

You were an absent father
Not a daddy

I was lucky enough to have a really great dad but I know people who havnt been so lucky and this poem is a reflection of their relationship with their father.

This poem nearly brought tears to my eyes. I guess I'm one of the less fortunate, 'eh? Great poem, I really liked this one so very much.
