They were there when your born
when you were first moved to scorn,
when Jesus first came into your life.

When you last kissed your mother and hugged your father goodbye.
They were there when you first realized you were in love
and when you were blessed with your first child from God above.

They were there when your child had their first born
and when your children had the same questions you did,
when raising them as kids.

You see them when you laugh
and feel them when you cry.
You wipe them from your children's eyes.

You have them with you always,
the proof of life forever
in your eyes.
