Side Chick

Side Chick

step 1.
we finally meet, two strangers with no intentions
we talk, and talk, I start to let you in..
your face warm like a flickering candle
you open me up-
slice me into little pieces trying to find the ones
you like best..you pick, you choose

I sit there.
soul open like a church on a sunday,
here's where the trick starts.
you put down your conditions..
it smells like sin, but we cover the smell
with kisses, and laughter, and deep conversations.

you get closer, and I get scared
only because this is a secret..
no one can know what we do, no
one may know how we touch

then you say:
"I want to leave"
and I tell you : "okay baby, leave"
but whenever you came back,
I was there with arms open..
and when I wanted to leave you told me:
"no, you're not allowed"
you know, I don't know much about selfishness
but I do know you were selfish when it came to me.

that when it came to being your side chick,
it only meant you got the best parts of me
and when bridges burned and your relationship
was finally over, when you finally could pick sides

....you chose all of them, but mine.

author's note : to all my females out there, who might read this poem, Sugar. for the sake of your own heart. don't you ever. ever. submit to being someone's second choice. if someone can't stick to just you, they don't deserve you. and if they cheated on someone else to be with you, they'll do the same to you too. baby, listen to me. you are worthy of being the one, the only. if someone wants to tempt you, you just tell them "ain't nobody got time for that" ..go get ice cream and move on with life. bye

xoxo
