The Little Girl

by Shannon   Jul 2, 2004

Who is the little girl
That absorbs all the lies
Who wakes others in the night
With her heart stopping cries

Who is the little girl
That covers up the bruises
Who tries to fight back
But she always loses

Who is the little girl
That can't take it anymore
The constant pain she been put through
Who's been beaten and hurt before

Who is the little girl
That cannot rise after she fell
Who's been pushed so many times
And goes through her own hell

Who is the little girl
That people seem to hate
Their unkind words and hateful stares
Happiness she can't relate

Who is the little girl
That wants to feel loved
For when she's sad and lonely
Only wants a smile and a hug

Who is the little girl
I want so bad to free
The girl I wish to help
The little girl that stays in me

This is a really good one. Your poems put mine to shame. I think there is some of that little girl in all of us. Sometimes we wish we could let her out of her chains and make her free.
