Suffocating Rocks

by Baby Rainbow   May 18, 2013

Sometimes I think I'll be okay,
I feel the strength to carry on and
see the hope within my future.
But then the world comes crashing down,
suffocating me beneath the rocks
that I can never climb free upon.

The struggle is a vicious cycle,
where I stumble amidst the rubble
but each time the rocks eat away
at the only energy I have left.

I get so tired of being tired of trying,
that being tired becomes more tiring than trying.

Sometimes I think I'll be okay,
I feel the strength to carry on
and the courage to get back up.
But other times I just lay still
beneath the heavy rocks and give
them permission to finally crush
my very tired soul.

Love the title, it's different and definitely captured my attention!

First stanza: You feel hope... you feel like you can carry on with your day, your life without being depressed... without being let down, etc...you finally feel like you are making progress... but then something comes along and proves you wrong... kind of a 1 step forward, 2 step back deal. You feel suffocated with this life, this world... and it's just too much sometimes.

Second stanza: Very true stanza. It seems like the harder we try, the bigger the obstacles we have to face... but that's life. Life is one big obstacle, constantly pushing us to fight harder. You captured that well here... it does drag us down and tire us ..but we can never stop fighting... or the rocks will bury us 6 feet under.

Third: This is a little bit of a tongue twister and I love it! It definitely sucks when we get to the point of where we are tired of trying... feel like it does no good to try.

Ending: Great ending. It has that little bit of hope attached to it... and then as well as the tiresome trying... but we all experience this at some point or another. We all have good days and bad days, just gotta take the positive with the negative.

Another wonderful write, girl! <3 Stay strong!
