Insomnia/Awake

by Ducky   May 19, 2013

She lies awake, staring at the wall
Wanting to sleep and put an end to it all.
She's tired of the same old thing every day,
Her mind keeping her anxious, keeping her awake.
She listens to music to try and dull the pain,
She writes small poems to try and keep her sane.
She watches tv and she reads her books,
But nothing she tries ever seems to work.
The moment she yawns, she lays back down
But as soon as her head hits the pillow,
Her eyes widened, followed by a frown.
Her mind keeps her awake, all day and all night
Thinking about irrelevant things, keeping her down, losing the fight.
Unfortunately not down in a sleeping like state,
More down in a way that she has to stay awake.
It's not a choice, if it was, it'd be different
For her mind controls her life,
Keeping everything hopeless and inefficient.
