Black Sun

by Daylight Lucidity   Jun 1, 2013

Smiles fade away with each minute
Breaking the spirit I forced into each word
Tears spill over long lashes, brightening blue eyes not worthy of repute
Cherishing the black sun rising in my world.
Days and nights run together as if a polluted river
Harboring secrets of my soul's decease
Drowned by the absurdities my heart spit
Like flames bursting from a caprice
Lying on a bed of roses locked in my mind.
This black sun, shining not light but blood
Red as a rose it colored the sky
Closing my eyes like I should,
I try to ignore the fact that this black sun
Haunts my every step, every breath, every thought
Urging me to take my leave, no goodbyes, and run.
All I have ever attempted rains down around me, burning the answers for which I have sought
Amongst the crimson glow, painting my skin
Like a rich canvas with life's cruel, uncaring brushes.
My heart's desire a sin,
The devil's lips against it, I shiver at her touches,
Shrouded in my black sun, watching myself float away
Down the darkened river littered with my shattered soul
Masked, I go night by night, day by day,
Wandering my path, trembling in the black sun's wind so cold.
