This is my last poem about you

If there is a god, then only he knows how much I miss you,
your perfect smile that compliments eyes that can see the future,
I always had a deep connection with your spirit my love,
If I placed my hand on your heart it would beat in unison with mine,

But it is time to let you go,
I kept you prisoner in my mind for far too long,
giving you a life sentence which you didn't deserve, and at the same time locking myself in the cell next to yours,
I'm sorry for being so selfish,

I would have given anything to have seen you one last time,
be it for a minute or half a second,
The love I have for you echoes and eternity and can't be extinguished like Greek-Fire,
but it kills me to say I have to set you free,

The funny thing about it all, is I don't even know if you think of me anymore,
When you sleep at night and wake up in the morning, have I ever been on your mind?
When you cut, do you think of the times I was there for you?
If you meet someone with my name, do accidently think of me?

These are question that torture my soul since the last time I saw you,
but they really don't matter anymore, because I know you're happy now,
hopefully the happiest you can be with your family,
I'm sorry I loved you so much,

I never met a person in the flesh, who complimented me so well,
the tragedy is that we both were cutters, but that was the beauty of it all,
I helped you in your time of need and you helped me,
both of our hearts in the same place, only healing ensued,

No more tears escape my eyes, only happiness in my heart,
for I see you have finally found peace,
but these will be my final words about you, even though it kills me to say it,
Tomorrow will be a better day for me and I will always love you,
