Doorways.

by Kelly Lee   Jun 13, 2013

We're all dancing in the hallway
Or maybe we're just floating, staring down the doors that look to big to push open
Convincing ourselves that's the excuse we're using not to look behind them
Hoping that one will burst forth with a song so vibrant
It will vibrate through all our veins
Washing our pores with an energy so pulsating
That it pries the premise of our existence
Pressuring the boundaries of what we're creating
That stopping for a moment would cease the drum beat of the world's collective heartbeat
And we're all looking through a lens of richness and red
Of wonderment and dread
Of a connecting thread
Of life and of death
Born into the waves of a windowpane
From two people deep within their most exposing day
Communicating through their fingertips, messages firing through the nerve endings of the other
Fully understanding the current of each other
And there was stillness in the womb reflecting the wisdom of Solomon's tomb
So they all could have sworn the day we were born
That they saw right through and found a piece of God in me and in you
And we're all looking through a lens of meditative electricity
Of wonderment and necessity
Of a connecting entity
Of life and of expiry
We were fledging minds filled with curiosity,
We were skipping through the evergreen trees
Mom, why don't I have any wings?
She said, Come here my dear
Let me tell you something they don't want you to hear
And she whispered the world's secret in my ear
You have wings so tall they pierce the clouds
That's why all the birds sing when you dance on soiled ground
Your being is that of a sunflower
Your movement is in the tide's ebb and flow
Your beauty is the beauty that's all around you
And it will stay with you wherever you go
But the biggest secret is that you're free
And she said let it be
And the world's a lens of protecting one another
My sister, my brother
From ego and each other
From tearing down what others tell you is your self-worth
And building up your own from the universe
And then offering yourself back out like the sun and moon offer their light to earth every day and night
It's when we halt this cycle that there is no healing
There is no love
There is no way we will rise above sickness, corruption, hate, and destruction.
