Saving Me

Strong hands support a trembling body,
Fingers lightly caressing cheeks and gently
Wiping away frightened tears. An encouraging,
Loving smile formed on soft lips that whisper
Such things that capture me
And build a shield of secure sanctity around my heart
As I lay in her arms.

Behind closed eyes, I see her angelic face and star-like eyes
Looking at me and sweeping me away,
Though so far apart I can feel a faint tingle in my hand
That yearns to hold hers. The flutter in my chest
Provoked by her delicate love and undeniable care,
Melting whatever is left of the ice that formed in a frigid soul.

Dreams of a future spent with her flow into my mind
As I sit and think of such beauty; dreams of dates and laughs,
Smiles and hugs, tender kisses blooming beautifully in once dark corners.
She might not feel like she does enough, like she cannot help when I need it,
Her very life essence, her smile, her touch, the euphoric effect she has on me
Is saving me daily. Bringing back happiness to a once saddened heart.
