Lily

by Armada the Gestalt   Aug 11, 2013

All my teeth are falling out,
I look like I'm ready to be buried
by your side.

They dug a grave for me and you,
I dug that grave for me and you,
And every year I plant the flowers by your side and then I cry.
I built this place for me and you,
I need this place that's me and you,
I write the word 'prison' on the inside of my ribs.

Too much of a good thing,
Is what they told me as a boy.
Don't fly too close to the sun,
But my skin was made to be burnt
and these eyes born to be blinded.

When I told you I would hold you forever
somehow I expected to die.
I reach through the earth for you,
but your bones don't feel like home any more.
I'm sorry if I ran from you if not in words then in my deeds,
If your eyes opened to an empty darkness, then that's
my fault.

I should have caught all your blood in my hands
and used it to paint our lives together.
I should have taken all your tears
and put them back,
because maybe you cried your heart out.

Every morning in my pillow and my blankets I defy
gravity
waiting for your end.
Every day I walk the roads of my old childhood in my head
I defy
gravity, your hand that pulls my hand.

Merciful mirror, do I have no face to you?
Through the lipstick traces I am already half dead.

I do not know how to really comment on this poem. There was so much raw emotion that made me want to continue reading until the end. I love this poem
