Unlocking Love (4 quatrains)

by Larry Chamberlin   Aug 12, 2013

Nowhere have I found anything more perfect
than the perfect illusion of your love unfurled;
a master magician would have no better effect
unlocking love but now it's me against the world.

Anything less than honesty is expensive
so I'll confront this soulless challenge you twirled
to prove, that nothing less apprehensive
will attack my side: me against the world.

If we seem to go in circles then leap off
this merry-go-round of love before you're hurled
but remember if you leave me here in the trough
it's always going to be me against the world.

Even now I listen for the tumblers to fall true
but if the lock never opens or your heart uncurl,
well, I have nothing left to lose except for you
then goodbye again, it's me against the world.

***********************************
Baby Rainbow challenge:
unlocking love
perfect
me against the world
perfect illusions
circles
soulless
nothing left to lose
honesty is expensive
goodbye again

Must be a rhyming form from Shadow Poetry.
Must be love genre
Must have me against the world in 4 lines of the poem.
must have goodbye again as the closing of the poem.
Must have unlocking love as the 4th line and the title.
