What Do I Know?

by GI Jane   Aug 27, 2013

Questioning my mortality
I realize, silly me!
What do I know but my limited scope
Of unrealized dreams and diminished hope.
Observing life passing me by
Never grasping the reason why
One person can bear so much of the burden
While others don't care if you're hurting.
Wondering of the chosen and what makes them special.
Asking God why some are blessed and others cursed
Feeling that the reasoning is twisted and perverse.
No doubt there is some logic to this conundrum I face
But all that I experience is disgrace.
Truth is I've no answers just questions.
Time heals all wounds, they say
And forgive and forget,
but how come they don't experience regret?
Often aspiring to great expectations
Only to be shut out and experience indignation.
Surely I did not do this to you
But Alas! What can I do?
Accept my lot in life and my mortality.
After all, what do I know? Silly me!
