Expecting

by Love Hurts   Sep 4, 2013

I've lifted my hopes up
to watch them fall again.
Simply a bird trying to fly,
Only to crash in the end.
Don't expect the expect,
It only rewards you with pain,
cause it never happens anyway.
I believed, only for a moment
That I wouldn't be alone.
When you smiled at her,
Realization hit like a ton of broken bones,
Your feelings died long ago.
So tell me,
Why did my survive?
I expected you to be happy,
To laugh instead of run.
But now you hightail it away from me,
our past only a bitter memory.
Or that's what you said and I
wanted to run instead.
Run from you, from the lies.
How dare you say that?!
Now I will despise
You and your choice of 'words'
Because you know what?
No matter how I acted,
They really hurt.
That hadn't been what I was expecting
for that day.
