Counting Stars

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 25, 2013

I patiently count each twinkling star
that appears in the sky tonight,
then I patiently count each fragile scar
that you scratched into my soul.

It often feels like the odds are against me
when I count more scars than stars, and
I wonder if I should just give in.

But then a star sparkles so brightly in the sky
that it blinds the doubt within my heart; it
reminds me why I began counting.

I know I cannot count each twinkling star,
but one by one, I will dedicate each star
to every scar of mine that heals, for every fear
that I overcome, until the sky is filled with
everything I am no longer afraid of.

My soul will become free of the scars
you left me, and after I conquer all of
my fears, the whole midnight sky
that you stole from me,
will become mine for eternity.

This is a very touching overcome poem. I love the hope in here that you can heal or have healed from the scars on the inside. There must have been a lot of scars in you because there are a ton of stars. I love the way you started this out though. It shows how much hurt you have inside but I think stars can make you better. It always feels bad if you think you should give in. I knowlife is very ddifficult alot of the time. If you count more scars then stars though it just proves you are a survivor. You are still alive and that means you did prove everyone wrong and now you can be happier:).

I love the twinkling bright star. I think you are saying that someone up there cares about you so much that you shouldn't give up. :). I love how the stars are happiness or hope. There is more hope then scars inside you. You seem to slowly be overcoming. I love how you are saying that you should take it day by day. You cannot count each star no but you can take it day by day and night by night. With each new star that appears it means new hope for someone watching them. I agree with time each scar will heal and the last two lines fit and wrap up the poem perfect. The night sky will be yours and then you can overcome anything. There is so much great deeper memeaning here. The message is very strong because it goes fromdarkness to light. 5/5
