Where I'm From

by Prema   Sep 27, 2013

I am from the little twigs from tree branches
I am from the night owls who never know how to sleep at night
I am from parents built with a little structure and with a mind so strong

I'm from sweets and sours, from roots of old trees
I'm from the go-with-the-flow ones who cruise along
From excitement and laughter
I'm from music with lots of genres and a voice who will sing it all

I'm from the wild and the big cities
Silence and sounds that blow my ear drums
From the days when my sister lectured me
that one relief feeling after it was all said

I look back on those days
remembering old stories
happiness and sadness
a feeling of positivity
I am who I am
for the mistakes I learned from
content with these, so called memories
