Caring

At what point did I stop caring?
Was it age 10 when I stopped putting on a seat belt?
Was it when I was only 8,
When I was told it was not safe for me to cross the road alone but I did it anyway.
Was it age 12 when I started drinking
Or maybe it was age 13 when I started smoking..
Perhaps it was when I was 11
When I started to cry myself to sleep
Or was it when I started counting calories
Or maybe it was when I first to up the blade
Or what about the time I first tied the rope
Little old me, age 9, skipping rope, school field
Was it at this point I stopped caring or have I never cared..?
Or maybe it is because I care too much.

I like the intensity of this piece. The rage, the sadness, the words slowly making the heart feel bitter. The growing darkness which make the light of the soul fade. I like it little princess.
