Demeaning words hold fast
As I replay conversations in my head
Why couldn't you just keep your opinion to yourself
Instead of letting it escape with your breath
I don't know why but it frustrates me so
I know I don't need your approval but
That doesn't mean I won't try to obtain it
I realize though somethings can't be held
I know I'll never achieve it
There's always someone better
smarter
more attractive
I can't win
with age I only grow bitter
my roots strong in the ground
I'll bloom someday
When you aren't around
My fruit will be sweet
Just wait and see
I'll blossom without you
Looming over me
What was once a sinister plot
I realize if I let go
I can regain something I've lost
my life.
