A Mother's Worry

by Baby Rainbow   Feb 20, 2014

I can hear the tremble in your voice,
as it echoes through the phone,
and it breaks my heart so much
that I cannot catch your tears.

Your heart is filled with endless love,
but with that love comes endless worry.

A mother's worry that keeps her mind
awake through the night, praying and
wishing for happiness to find her children.

And it breaks my heart
to hear that sound, of
your weeping voice
grasping onto broken
strings of
bravery.

It must be so hard being a mother! Not only do you have to deal with all of your own stresses and problems, but the pain of your child's as well. As a mother you accept this burden and hope it is repaid by seeing your child grow up happy and healthy. It's like Atlas trying to hold up the world- the mother trying to take on too much at once- she is bound to show cracks in her armour eventually.

The last verse is touching, I especially like the "broken strings of bravery". It must be hard trying to be strong for your children when all you want to do is break down. But you also have something to stay strong for :)

    Lovely poem, very heartfelt :)

Saffie, This poem really saddens me but it is written really well. First of all the title I feel fits perfectly because you captured the worry in the poem. I love here how you pinpointed the smallest of details. You set the tone very well here as well. Using words like tremble is great because it shows the worry. I believe this poem is about a mother who is panicked because they are missing their child. I really liked the daughter or son feeling bad for their mother. I loved the ending as well because you wrote it well. The hope and strength is great. This mother is very brave and stronger than she knows. Beautiful!
