Child

by Love Hurts   Mar 3, 2014

Curl my palm tightly around our only escape.
But the light fades anyway
I want those days
When we were sane
An innocent smile
A happy laugh
Vanished that day
We never were the same
Sadness may linger
But guilt stays forever
Slow swaying trees
Bright, untainted eyes of a child
Darkness leaking into blood,
Poisoned hearts thumping one by one
Blood mixed with tears slipping down the blade
It shines cruelly in the light
A reminder of another way
Parted lips in a silent scream
Frozen forever it seems
A lifeless body was left
that day
We whisper one last prayer
"Goodbye, our dear, may your soul rest in peace
Lord, leave the body
So we may suffer for eternity
Burden with these memories."
