On The Other Side

by lonelynow   Mar 11, 2014

The day I found out my lover had raped someone
I skipped dinner to hold his hand
And we lay for hours, curled up in our knowledge.

But whilst his veins coursed with guilt,
Mine were tinged with jealousy
And anger boiled over into allegations and betrayal

I want to be the victim of your crimes of passion
Marked as I am by other men's theft
I want to watch you suffer, and show compassion
I want to be the only love you have left
I will trick you into wanting me
As my fear tricked me into loving them

The day I found out my lover had raped someone
I skipped dinner to hold his hand
And we lay for hours, side by side

But whilst he tried to hold himself together
I watched him become a broken man,
And picked up the pieces for myself.
