Lost Love Song

by Corey Gentry   Jul 4, 2004

I had inspiration ten minutes ago
Lost it in between the strings
Playing the songs that I don’t know
Strumming the chords, my silence sings

Out to the one, near or far
That brought me to my knees
Praying beyond the northern star
“Give me the strength, God, please”

To be the man, I claim to be
Standing tall with my actions
Not giving into jealousy
Comprehending the abstractions

Misunderstood, of the feelings inside
Never really coming down
The loves songs lost in the tide
My chorus not making a sound

It’s hard to write a love song
When the words get in the way
Of putting things where they belong
And where they were on the 31st day

The momentary hours,
That put us into place
Giving into loves powers
Gazing at your flawless face

Wanting, only once more
To hold you in my arms
You and I, connecting to the core
Giving into your lustful charms
