Silent Prayer

by Dominique Lewis   May 30, 2014

Late one night after a day full of fighting and tears,
A small girl kneels beside her bed and starts to pray,
"Heavenly Father, can you please take away Mommy's fears?"
"Can you please take away her days that are grey?"

A silent prayer that has been heard,
Mother was standing in the doorway and listened to each word,
Looking her daughter in the eyes with her vision blurred,
Crying from acting so absurd.

She kisses the girl's head and say to sleep,
Things will get better soon,
Mother leaves the room and starts to weep,
She turns out her light and says "Sweet dreams June."
