Find Me

by UtterlyAlive   Jun 1, 2014

Tell me who I am
Because I can't find my self tonight.
I'm lost somewhere in the torn pages
And the shattered hearts
And the broken dreams.
I'm cowering under burning bridges
That crash around me and caress my world in flame,
But even the heat of the fire can't warm my icy veins
Or the emotion that flows darker than night itself.
I'm trapped in a void
Left in a hole of nothing but shame,
Left to wonder,
Left to imagine my life without this misery.
I'm left holding my own hand,
My own heart,
Providing comfort that means as little as I do
I'm lost in the burning flames,
And the hidden tears,
And the meaningless words.
And I can't find myself tonight

The first line caught my eye immediately when scanning through the poetry this week. What a start. How many of us feel like this. That we do not truly know who we are or what our point is. Why do we exist to scrape by day to day? There is so much sadness in this piece, I also love the scattering of imagery, some great details that tell a sad story. A very mature piece by somebody so young. Great write and worthy of 10 points.
