Born of Fire

by Rey Severs   Jun 20, 2014

What is worse than a dripping tap?
Laying here, head full of crap.
Thoughts that wither, then reform,
The same old thing, here and gone.

Laying in a room, as naked as bare skin,
I am evil, I am sin.
Bound to youth, an innocent heart,
Their demise and end, was my start.

If only I knew, my purpose in life,
My blade on a shelf, tempted by knife.
Eternal darkness, forever peace,
Unless anger awakens me, Katana in sheath.

I protect you, but what for?
Every time I arise, I am crushed to the floor.
Time is ticking, yet slowing for me,
Is this the way it will always be?

An opening, I am needed!
After only silence for years.
I am greeted with the sound of broken glass,
The shrill sound of a hundred shards.

Who is this being, friend or foe?
It is not who I think, but I need to know.
Time speeds up, a flicker of flame,
A slight weakness, as I hear his name.

I like you, but I do not know you,
You seem a liar but your words are true.
I steal a kiss, it is returned,
It hurts my skin, my lips are burned.

In protection, I departed,
Stubborn minds, both steel hearted.
But through fate, we met again,
In a strange circumstance of events.

That night we took each other in arms,
The pain I felt rendered me calm.
Unusual feelings, lust and desire,
But nothing could extinguish the fire.

You know I love you, a banished sin,
You told me so, through will and whim.
We are making history, and thus together,
You are my purpose, now and forever....
