After me

by Colette   Aug 20, 2014

There was the one with blue hair,
wasn't there?
The underage one,
with the creepy friends.

There was that one with the black hair,
wasn't there?
The one addicted to drugs,
and jumping off roof tops.

Then there was the one with ruby red hair,
wasn't there?
The one with blistered pink wrists,
who stole you from the rest of us.

That one with the nose ring came next,
right?
The one who didn't ever smile,
and who only lasted for a blink.

I sit back and watch.
Wondering where you'll go
once you've gone through the entire rainbow.
Through all of the body piercings.
Through all of the downed pill bottles,
and scarred wrists.

Will you come back?
To that one who did everything right.
Who loved you young, but real,
and should have put up a fight.
The one who has moved on,
but still loves you.
The one who will be waiting.
