On Burning Homelands

by The Princess   Aug 21, 2014

He told me once
of how he thought lands
were phoenixes,

as he toyed with a lighter
and the edge of one
worn, dog-eared map.

Tonight, we take matches
to countries, till we singe
our fingers.

Tonight,
we'll take matchsticks to countries
and dream..

of a new home.
