Young Soul!

by Zabadak   Oct 13, 2014

Looking at the person opposite, I wanted to be anywhere else but there!

The worn face, weathered with time, lined with age, affected me and preyed on my mind!

My young soul, new and fresh as always, tried to comprehend what it was looking at.

In all ways, the face looked unreal, unbelievable and apart!

The eyes looked directly into my eyes, and in that moment I was able to see a young soul with young feelings, hopes and aspirations trapped in that ageing face! My soul!

Turning away from the mirror, I chose to ignore the face!

For me, young soul wins every time!

I think this poem is something which many people on here will relate to. That battle of the reflection in the mirror, and how sometimes the reflection can win, and make you believe what it tells you... other times the soul that is inside of you wins, as it knows how it feels and what it is, compared to the looks in the mirror.

I like the honesty of the poem, and again the description of your work is worded perfectly, it gives it detail that helps the reader understand exactly what you wanted the imagery or message to be.

You ended the poem brilliantly by claiming power back on your own body and thoughts, and to end with the title is a really good idea too, I like doing this myself.

Another great write, hope to see lots more from you!
