Compassion

by Loser   Nov 19, 2014

Compassion weighs me down
Like an anchor to a boat,
Water to a flame.
You can't understand,
Why I can't understand.

Through the facade and the lies and the hurt and the blame,
I suffocate.
I care too much.
The weight of the world,
It weighs me down
Like compassion

Supposed to be a hero,
But what's a hero to do?
What's a hero to do when he's just as broken as you?

Touching poem. This is such a human poem and we all need to show more compassion. I believe we all can have it but it can sometimes be easier to turn away, let our pride rule, or be bitter in our hearts. There IS so much pain and suffering to acknowledge, so much we can't reach but just showing our love and concern for others (that we know or are complete strangers) little by little will be enough. I think that realization can often be hard to swallow, that we cannot do it all, but that doesn't mean our efforts go to waste. Thank you for sharing this, enjoyed the read!
