A Song Of My Own

I am a sad poet

Form an incredible land

The playful wind

Flirts with the beads of sweat on my face

And dries it above my shirt

The pretty cloud

Shades my helmet from the Sun

Down the sloping road, my bike sings

The parrots line the road

The falcons come out of their nests

And the jackals out of their burrows

The grasses wave, saluting me

The trees chant for me

Shedding their yellow leaves to the wind

And like frogs,

Ducks come out of the pond to celebrate

The fragrance of mud with the butterflies soars

The meadow runs green under me

Studded with slivery water drops
The sheep bleat, the cows bellow
This is my kingdom, I gently tread it with my bike

Light as a breeze

I dart like an arrow, chanting an ancient ode

About the young soldier who survived the war

About the poet who fled his country

About the girl who aged while waiting

About the giant ogress

That eats her children in the night

And searches for them in the morning

Down the sloping road, my bike sings

The roses awaken

The plump village women wave

The river winds, its wavelets break

Nature cradles my sad head

Sprays may face with dew and light

Caresses my song with the riverbank grass

I am a sad poet

From an incredible land

I'm a sad poet from an incredible land too, yet I'm filled with joy. A joy that consumes me just like fire consumes wood in a fireplace. It warms me. It burns me. It incinerates me from within until all that is left of me is ashes.

Good write. I enjoyed it. Welcome to Poems and Quotes.
