A Father's Wish
I don't think I have ever really told you just how much I think of you, and love you. I probably think about you as much as my heart beats in a day.
When I walk down the road I look down and wish this road would take me to you so I can see you one more time.
I look ahead and I just see nothing that really matters to me.
I begin to lose my mind wondering if there was things I could have done better, should have been there more for you when you needed.
Then I look to the flowers and I remember your smile when I would be feeling down.
In my eyes your smile is worth all the diamonds in the world.
Again I look ahead and I see times when I came home, and you had the look of trouble in your eyes, and I would know.
I would know, you will forever be in my heart no matter what.
I smell the air, and I smile, as I can smell you right next to me as I walk down this road.
I remember the days you would kiss me good night,
I would hope to be that armored knight that would forever guard you at night.
But I did not want to think of the day you would be miles down the road through North Dakota, thinking of me.
I did not see the water lined with two cities of thousands.
I look; I look, and sometimes do not see anything,
I hear; I hear and sometimes I do not hear anything
I feel; I feel and sometimes I do not feel anything
And there are days I feel you in my eyes, in my ears, and all around me
I just want to say, Go Girl, show em what you got
You'll always be my star blitzing through the sky with no beginning and no end.
I know in my heart no matter where you are
There will be not one day I regret your love, and my love for you.
When I put one foot in front of the other on the road
