Typhoons

The skies stared in curiosity
as the earth spoke to us
in the tongue of endless fury,
anchoring our fates to its mercy

We drove typhoons deeper
inside our hollow hearts,
hoping that the universe
would give us joy

But nature brutally wiped out
all traces of our shadows
from the face of this planet,
punishing our arrogance

For we could never shine
as brightly as we think we do,
our narcissistic vision could only
show us our own disgusting reflection

And not even in a world of mirrors
were we ever kind enough
to not destroy everything
that we've come to cherish
