Impermanence

by Kakera   Sep 6, 2023

Drifting with black sails
through the freezing air,
conquering ice and the dark,
like fireflies circling the moon

A flash and a crack,
like sword against sword
and the breaking of bones

as impermanent as incense,
with lives like a mirage
translucent and ephemeral
yet full of meaning;

We are clawing our way out
from these sands of time,
drifting in terror
through the ice
and the unknown future,
living brilliantly like firecrackers
and fading like worshipping smoke

seeking beauty,
seeking meaning,
seeking Life
