If I had..

by Rey Severs   Apr 6, 2015

If I had you, I could forget this cold,
This cold keeping be distilled and controlled.
If I had you, maybe I could smile,
Something to melt the ice, to keep my thoughts compiled.

If I had you, I'd have no sorrows,
I'd not have to sleep, dreading tomorrow,
If I had you, my dreams would be reality,
A clearer conscience, a better mentality.

If I had you, my nightmares would leave me,
the devil would purge, I'd be his hell escapee,
If I had you, nothing but happiness,
Nothing but love and warm caresses.

if I had you,. there'd be no need to fret,
No hating, no loathing, no outsiders with threats.
If I had you, I could sleep safely,
Knowing your arms, will always catch me.

I know I can have you, I know you are mine,
But I dislike my doubts, they spill, fade, until benign,
For someone with doubt, for someone so shallow,
Can you withstand this, can you deal with my heart so sallow?

There are so many things, that outweigh the cons,
So many things to dwell upon.
But if I had you, answer me this?
Will I be too bold, too frozen to kiss?

**Note: Not my best poem thus far, however, it reflects a thought and feeling as I write it**
