Walking around in dreams

by Darren   Aug 6, 2015

Imagine if you could walk around in your dreams
Would you teach yourself to run?
If you could turn around and face yourself
What would you say?

If you could bag up the darkness
Where would you put it?
If you could truly smell fear
Would it have a sweet aroma?

To be so alone amongst so many friends
Am I experiencing a time delay?
If the world around you paused for a moment
Would you come out from under the duvet?

When life and death are on equal terms
Does a flip of a coin offer no chance?
Where does feeling sorry for yourself end
And being so selfish start?

A tablet can stop a mind racing,
But what truly prevents a heart aching?
A friend can pull you from the void,
But who else hears the voice coaxing you back?

In my dreams I sleep under the duvet of darkness
Nestled in the corner of the void of despair,
One day I will run through my dream
And show myself a different way.
